Select a data set as in the example below ( Table I ) from the Excel data file " ACS _2005_07_HSNG " Then select two New York City boroughs. You must select a data set with at least 5 classes of intervals on a variable. You may use the data set from your previous assignment.
- Reduce the number of intervals to 5 classes, if you have more than ten intervals. If you have 7 – 9 intervals, then reduce the number of classes to 4. If you have 4 – 6 intervals, then reduce the number of classes to three (See Table II ).
- Prepare a Frequency Distribution ( See Table II ) table and use it to
- calculate the Weighted Means of the variable that you selected for the two New York City boroughs of your choice
- Calculate the Coefficients of Variation for the two boroughs and explain the meaning of the Coefficients of Variation in the contect of the variables that you selected.
- Prepare charts of the Frequency Distributions or Relative Frequency Distribution such as the one in Figure I (No two students may select the same borough and variable)
3. Write a short report comparing the two boroughs. You must include the following in your report:
- Your objective: What was the purpose of your exercise?
- The variable you selected and the number of intervals
- The number of class intervals that you are reducing to
- The results of your calculations and comparison of the two boroughs
