Regression Analysis

The objective of this paper is to use stats about pitching and batting in order to attempt to predict the number of games a team wins.

The following variables will be considered in the analysis:

1. Results: Win or Loss ( Dependent variable )
2. Pitching
   1. ERA – Earned Runs Average
   2. R - Runs
   3. SO – Strike Outs
   4. P/AVG – Pitching Average
   5. WHIP – Walks and Hits per Innings Pitched
   6. WPCT – Win Percentage
   7. OBP – On Base Percentage
   8. K/BB – Pitchers Strikeout to Walk
   9. OPP BA – Opposing Team Batting Average
3. Batting:
   1. H - Hits
   2. HR - Home Runs
   3. RBI - Runs Batted In
   4. B/AVG – Batting Average
   5. OBP – On Base Percentage
   6. SLG– Slugging Percentage
   7. OPS – On Base + Slugging
   8. HBP– Hit By Pitch
