Final Case Study

Rather than have you collect your own data, we will use the data provided in the Appendix B of the Triola Text (pgs 621-642).

You will be assigned the variables you are to work with by the facilitator. You are to do the following for the dependent variable assigned:

  1. Construct a frequency table using five classes
  2. Construct a histogram.
  3. Calculate measures of central tendency and variation which includes the mean, median, mode, range, variance, and standard deviation.
  4. Determine the five-number summary and construct a box-plot.
  5. Find the values that represent the 30th and 90th percentiles
  6. Find the values that correspond to the following Z scores: -1.5 and 2.25.
  7. Determine the confidence intervals for µ at α = .05 and .01.
  8. Provide the null and alternative hypothesis, critical value, p value, and conclusion for the claim given. Use α = .05.
  9. Determine if a linear correlation exists between your independent and dependent variables (test hypothesis for linear correlation). Be sure to calculate r and r 2 . How much of the variability of your dependant variable can be explained by the independent variable?
  10. Construct a scatterplot and the equation for the regression line of your given variables.

Assigned Variables: (The claim refers to the mean of the dependent variable). Based on this info below. 1-8 state which is dependent variable and which is the independent variable and why also…
