Descriptive Statistics Discussion II Week 1

(Note: Only focus on the variables for gender, age, marital, problem, effict, and empathyt for this assignment. Efficacy and empathy are measured via well developed psychological tests that assume equal distance between units, and where a higher score represents more of that characteristic.)
- In the body of your post include the following:
- List the variables and explain their scale of measurement (nominal, ordinal, interval, or ratio).
- Describe the shape of the frequency distribution for the effict and empathyt variables according to symmetry, skewness, and modality.
- How many people had a mean efficacy score less than or equal to 3? A score equal to 5.14? A score greater than or equal to 6?
- You are told that this study was looking at the effects of gender, marital status, and the problem experienced by the participant on the amount of overall efficacy and empathy the participant feels. List and explain the independent and dependent variables.
- What is the mean, median, mode, range, standard deviation, and variance for age, effict, and empathyt?
- What do these results tell you about each variable? Why did we not calculate these statistics for gender or marital status?
- What are the z scores for effict and empathyt for Participant #1? What do these numbers mean? What percentage of area under the normal curve would apply to each variable if we wanted to know how many people had a score equal to or less than each score for this participant? How would we have calculated these z scores by hand?
