Data Analysis Plan for the Foster Care Agency
Introduction
The purpose of this report is to provide a complete and meaningful data analysis plan for the non-profit foster care services agency that has requested this analysis. This agency, located in northern Virginia, serves approximately 100 children per year, with an average of 35 children at a time. The purpose of the agency is to know more about the clients they serve in order to enhance and expand their services and determine what the needs to foster families are. This information would highly valuable for the agency in order to improve its operations.
The tools used for describing and analyzing the data are varied in nature, but they are all framed within the context of descriptive and inferential statistics. For the purpose of the analysis, a data set collected in the agency’s MIS case management system will be used for all the statistical tests suggested by this analysis
Research Questions
Various possible research questions arise from the context of the agency that requested the analysis and the dataset that will be available for the analysis. Some of the research questions of interest that can be addressed with this dataset are:
- Does the total number of months in foster care depend on whether the biological mother presents problems or not? This question is critical for the agency, considering that interest they have in understanding the reasons why a child need to go to foster care and what determines how long they stay there.
- Is there any association between a child presenting conditions and the biological mother presenting problems? This question is also extremely relevant, because it allows the agency to assess whether or not the mother problems affect the likelihood of the existence of conditions in the child.
