Another field that makes use of real numbers is Computers. Most commonly, this field represents calculations which represent a particular subset of the rational or irrational numbers via either fixed-point numbers or floating point numbers. These are then used as an approximation with regard to other nearby real values. Quite a few programming languages like AppleScript also use “real values” to describe their primary numeric data type.
